What is left is the part I genuinely love \u2014 a handful of products, a few minutes and a little ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I keep a notebook for exactly this kind of thing. Most pages are half-finished lists and arrows pointing at nothing, but every so often a page turns into a little essay \u2014 and then, eventually, into a post like this one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where it started<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It began, as most good things do, by accident. A friend needed help, a client cancelled, a roll of film came back from the lab with one frame I could not stop looking at. I said yes to the small thing, and the small thing quietly rearranged the rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>The quietest choices are usually the ones people remember.<\/p><cite>From my notebook<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I do not believe in rules so much as in a few gentle defaults \u2014 the things you reach for when you are tired, rushed or unsure. These are mine at the moment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fewer, better things \u2014 and permission to repeat them.<\/li>\n\n<li>Natural light first, always.<\/li>\n\n<li>One detail that feels like you, every single day.<\/li>\n\n<li>Ten unhurried minutes before anyone needs anything from you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What I would tell you<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Start smaller than you think. Notice what you keep coming back to, and let that be enough for a while.
